I have 2 gaming machines. One machine with the spec of i7-4960x and EVGA GTX 1080 ti running 3x 1440p monitor in nVidia Surround (7680x1440, 11 million pixels, capped at 60Hz), was getting between 40 to 50 fps when playing AOE II Definitive Edition in semi large battles. I am thinking of upgrading the second machine, running an i7-3960x and EVGA GTX 1080 SC using an LG 43MU79-B 4k monitor (3840x2160, 8.3 million pixels, capped at 60Hz), house in a Antec 1100 with good airflow (2x side panel fans). I am building a new work machine soon, so I am going to pull the 1080 out. I wonder what would be an appropriate upgrade for the second machine? I am thinking the second machine is driving 25% less pixels, so a card of 1080ti performance such as the RTX 2070 Super should work well in getting me more than 50fps. I am also tempted to buy a 2080 Super because when AOE 3 comes out, I am buying that too. These are 2 cards I am contemplating -

Is the 2080 Super worth the $200 (33%) extra for perhaps 15% more in performance? I wonder if I will even see that in these games. I also heard that new cards are coming from nVidia this year but not sure when. Probably not the right time for the upgrade, but I need something.I am interested in nVidia only, no AMD. AOE (I and II) Definitive Editions are going to be the main games that I will play through this year. Not much else.
